Product Description

See Titanic as you have never seen it before, digitally re-mastered to an unparalleled 3D and overseen by Academy Awardr-winning director James Cameron and producer Jon Landau. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet shine in the timeless love story born of tragedy that created an international phenomenon as memorable as the legendary "ship of dreams." Winner of 11 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, this epic masterpiece is destined to sweep audiences anew into the journey of a lifetime.

When the theatrical release of James Cameron's Titanic was delayed from July to December of 1997, media pundits speculated that Cameron's $200-million disaster epic would cause the director's downfall, signal the end of the blockbuster era, and sink Paramount Pictures as quickly as the ill-fated luxury liner had sunk on that fateful night of April 14, 1912. Titanic would surpass the $1-billion mark in global box-office receipts, win 11 Academy Awards including Best Picture and Director, launch the best-selling movie soundtrack of all time, and make a global superstar of Leonardo DiCaprio. A bona fide pop-cultural phenomenon, the film has all the ingredients of a blockbuster (romance, passion, luxury, grand scale, a snidely villain, and an epic, life-threatening crisis), but Cameron's alchemy of these ingredients proved more popular than anyone could have predicted. His stroke of genius was to combine absolute authenticity with a pair of fictional lovers whose tragic fate would draw viewers into the heart-wrenching reality of the Titanic disaster. As starving artist Jack Dawson and soon-to-be-married socialite Rose DeWitt Bukater, DiCaprio and Kate Winslet won the hearts of viewers around the world, and their brief, but never forgotten, love affair provides the humanity that Cameron needed to turn Titanic into a moving emotional experience. Although some of the computer-generated visual effects look artificial, others--such as the climactic splitting of the ship's sinking hull--are state-of-the-art marvels of cinematic ingenuity. It's an event film and a monument to Cameron's risk-taking audacity, blending the tragic irony of the Titanic disaster with just enough narrative invention to give the historical event its fullest and most timeless dramatic impact. --Jeff Shannon

    5.0 out of 5 stars TITANIC SPECIAL COLLECTOR'S EDITION, September 11, 2005

Having garnered 11 Academy Awards in 1998, a reported production budget of over US$200 million (thus making news headlines in 1997) and earning over US$1 billion in box-office receipts worldwide (quite a percentage of those are due to repeated theatrical viewings), Titanic (1997) has finally been given the enhanced DVD edition many have been looking for.

Having "suffered" a mediocre vanilla (single) DVD release in 1999, the title has finally been given better treatment (better film-to-video transfer and extensive bonus materials) by Paramount Home Entertainment for Region 1 or regions using the NTSC video system and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment (Other regions or regions using the PAL video system) before 2005 ends.

Paramount Home Entertainment will be releasing a single 3-disc Special Collector's Edition (SCE) for Region 1 (US) whilst Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will be releasing 2 editions: 2-disc Special Edition (SE) and 4-disc... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent movie, disappointed over the DVD., May 19, 2002

Don't get me wrong, I love TITANIC but I found it odd how the disc transfer was only limited to the bare bones! A theatrical trailer, that's it! Come on! This is the most expensive movie, highest grossing movie, most critically acclaimed, and most award-winning movie an there are zero extras? Cameron's other films are fully loaded. TITANIC gets the shaft while lesser films like AMERICAN PIE 2 are blessed with double disc sets with hours of bonuses. This pains me beyond belief as a film buff. I remember a well-done special that was once on FOX about the film and would've been perfect on the disc. A commentary, for crying out loud! A million filmmakers and castmembers and no commentary track? Insane! This disc should be the most overwhelming, extra-ladden DVD ever made, but instead only got left with the standard. The picture and sound quality is top notch, but once you're done the movie you're anxious to find out more. There aren't even any cheesy production notes! Collectors, skip... Read more

although it doesn't say anywhere in the description, these are 3D glasses for KIDS. they are smaller than average and clearly NOT for adults unless you have a tiny head.

I like this glasses. It is much better than paper 3D glasses. The bad thing is : it doesn't work for Journey To The Center of The Earth 3D! (which is the reason I bought this glasses). The movie has green and red color when you watch with or without this glasses.

This glasses work for watching Lava Girl and Spy Kid2 3 D tough.

Bought this triple pack in order to try out Nvidia's low cost 3d vision discover. Certainly took some amount of time to get used to the effect. Aside from the somewhat dorkiness of the glasses (look more like 1970's glass than modern shades), they work very well. I've been playing Resident Evil (4 & 5), Left 4 Dead (1 & 2), and few other games in 3d vision and it's an amazing and immersive effect.

There are some downsides to the effect:
    1. Desaturation: Most colors are still noticeable, but there is clearly alot of lost of color, due to the filters.
    2. Ghosting: Because you can always still see some degree of the other eye's color in each eye, ghosting is very noticeable this way.

These are both inherent to the effect, and not the glasses however. I can't compare them to other red/cyan glasses, since the last pair I used was in 1998 with red/blue (which really messed with the visible color spectrum). The work great once you get used to them... Read more

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (Blu-ray/DVD Combo + UltraViolet Digital Copy)

    Product Description

Robert Downey Jr. reprises his role as the world's most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes, and Jude Law returns as his friend and colleague, Dr. Watson, in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. Sherlock Holmes has always been the smartest man in the room... until now. There is a new criminal mastermind at large - Professor James Moriarty (Jared Harris) - and not only is he Holmes' intellectual equal, but his capacity for evil, coupled with a complete lack of conscience, may give him an advantage over the renowned detective. Around the globe, headlines break the news: a scandal takes down an Indian cotton tycoon; a Chinese opium trader dies of an apparent overdose; bombings in Strasbourg and Vienna; the death of an American steel magnate... No one sees the connective thread between these seemingly random events - no one, that is, except the great Sherlock Holmes, who has discerned a deliberate web of death and destruction. At its center sits a singularly sinister spider: Moriarty. Holmes' investigation into Moriarty's plot becomes more dangerous as it leads him and Watson out of London to France, Germany and finally Switzerland. But the cunning Moriarty is always one step ahead, and moving perilously close to completing his ominous plan. If he succeeds, it will not only bring him immense wealth and power but alter the course of history.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Product Does Not Include A Digital Copy, March 18, 2012
This review is from: Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (Blu-ray/DVD Combo + UltraViolet Digital Copy) (Blu-ray)
While the movie is certainly worthy of praise and is a very excellent sequel to the first one, my review will be focusing on what now has become a monumental case of false advertising about getting a "Digital Copy" product. To be fair to the movie, I did give this a 5 star rating. There are other excellent descriptions of the movie already published under reviews so I am focusing on the product.

What you are getting with this and any other "Ultraviolet" product is NOT a digital copy. You don't get a copy of anything. All you get is the right to create an account to access the servers of the so called "Ultraviolet" system. Hence, if you are at an airport, you get the joy of using your data plan to capacity (and paying actual additional dollars if you have exceeded capacity) only to realize that while on the plane, you have no access to your purported digital copy. This is one of the biggest scams in the digital age. Advertising to let you think that you are getting a "copy"... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Remember how much fun the first Pirates of the Caribbean was?, March 17, 2012
This review is from: Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (Blu-ray/DVD Combo + UltraViolet Digital Copy) (Blu-ray)
Well this film is that level of fun. After kicking into gear they quickly take an old and familiar setting and bring it into the modern day (figuratively that is, since this is actually set in the late 19th century). They manage to do this without making it too youth oriented. The true fun in this film will be in rewatching it, the quick banter and fun plot twists that turn out to be thought out well in advance (for the most part), will only be more enjoyable upon multiple viewings. The layers, much like those found in the Pirates script, are multiple and cerebral. They hit the viewer without our full awareness and when we later realize this it brings a smirk if not a smile to the face. Many plot points that seem by chance or appear to be toss away jokes end up returning and playing a larger role in the story, it's nice to see some effort in a big budget blockbuster - especially when its a sequel.

The action and staging of set pieces might not properly belong in the era... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Betting against Sherlock Holmes- is a game I'm afraid you'd lose!, March 20, 2012

This review is from: Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (Blu-ray/DVD Combo + UltraViolet Digital Copy) (Blu-ray)
After the very good opening film in the Guy Richie Sherlock Holmes franchise- A Game Of Shadows takes the series to another level. There is a real feeling that the actors have a firmer grasp on their characters. It can also be said that Richie seems to be in more of a flow in this second installment. How many times can we actually say that a second film in a series improves upon the first?

First and foremost, Robert Downey Jr is an extremely gifted actor. Most people know that, but his command of this role is exceptional. You have probably seen the extent of his preparation in regards to the proper English accent he had to master- before ever getting infront of the camera! His acting in this film is up there with Chaplin and his other great performances. He is Sherlock Holmes and I believe any version of Sherlock in the future will be hard pressed to equal Downey's version. And Sherlock definately needs a worthy Watson. Enter Jude Law. The perfect sidekick, who has to shake... Read more
